What is acrylic resin?

Acrylic resin refers to a group of thermoplastic materials made from compounds such as acrylic acid. The acrylic derivatives are added to heated plastic to create a material that can be used for many different uses. The material formed from the thermoplastic acrylic mixture is resistant to heat and impact, benefits from good clarity and excellent UV resistance. Not only is there a diverse range of products containing these resins, they are also extremely durable.
The use of these resins has grown in popularity throughout the world, and it is thought to be an affordable but durable material for manufacturing many different products.

Why is it used in the process of finishing leather?

In comparison with other resin systems, acrylic resins are environmentally friendly and fast-setting adhesives that are considered more useful than non-acrylic adhesives. Acrylic resins have become a major product used in worldwide manufacturing. They are employed in the health and medical industry, electronic products, and appliance and automotive industries. In the leather finishing process, acrylic resins are used for their varying useful properties.

What about Veco?

Veco produces several types of leather finishing product:
– VECOSOL IMPREGNANTE L 1422 is able to give high grain firmness in any type of leather. It is suitable for buffed leather of any thickness to prepare college, brush-off and patent leathers articles.
– VECOSOL BINDER A 900 is a glossy and very hard binding agent for topcoats and special effects. It has excellent water resistance. With appropriate crosslinking, the physical properties are enhanced.
– VECOSOL IMPREGNANTE L 1490 is a fine acrylic impregnation binder dispersion which brings a good stiffening effect to the leather. The dispersion has a fast penetration into the leather.
– Finally, VECOSOL BINDER A 311 is a soft binding agent for universal use. The use of this products allow you to obtain a good covering of grain defects, creating a good resistance to water and solvents. The dry and wet flexometer values of the final article will be good.
